A Bit Of Paperwork
We will need you to fill out forms that provide general information about you and your condition. Our staff is happy to assist you with the paperwork.
During your first consultation with the Dr. Marlow or Dr. Cable, you'll discuss any health-related issues and concerns. You will also learn about potential treatment options.
History And Examination
In order to pinpoint the problem, the doctor will ask you a number of questions related to your condition. A variety of targeted tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in assessing the most effective treatment plan for you.
Patients will generally undergo their first treatment on their first visit after the examination and x-rays are completed. This may include spinal adjustments and therapy.
Before leaving, you will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat applications, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises.
Scheduling The Next Appointment
Treatment is essential to the process of improvement. Generally speaking, most patients are seen 2 times per week for 3 weeks and then they are re-evaluated. One of three scenarios occur at visit number six:
1. Patient has no pain and normal range of motion, in which case they are asked to followup on an "as needed" basis.
2. Patient has no substantial improvement with pain or range of motion, in which case we make the appropriate referral.
3. Patient's pain level is improving but not optimal, range of motion is improving but not optimal, which tells us we are on the right path, we're just not there yet.
It should be noted that except for injury, most patients see us on an "as needed" basis.
